Bud Foster to Lend Name to New Blacksburg Restaurant
According to the ABC permit posted at the old Boston Beanery restaurant in Blacksburg, the new establishment will feature Hokies Defensive Coordinator Bud Foster’s name. Speculation on the interweb suggests the name will be simply, “Foster’s”. For those that hadn’t heard, Beamer is re-opening his restaurant in the new commercial development on S. Main. Our little town is growing! Go HOKIES!

Chicago Bears Sign Former Hokie RB Kevin Jones
After jettisoning troubled and unproductive first round bust Cedric Benson, the Chicago Bears have turned to former Virginia Tech standout runningback Kevin Jones to help fill the void. Jones signed a one-year deal worth $605,000. Jones has been plagued by injuries since arriving in the NFL in the 2004 season, but rushed for a career-high eight touchdowns last season. Coming Soon! More Tickets for the ECU Game

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech Athletics Ticket Office announced Tuesday that approximately 1,400 tickets for the Hokies’ season-opening football game against East Carolina University in Charlotte, N.C., will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, July 16 at 9 a.m.
The tickets for the Aug. 30 game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte became available after returning Virginia Tech student season ticket holders failed to purchase their entire allotment. The tickets cost $55 plus handling charges and can be purchased by calling the Virginia Tech Ticket Office (1-800-828-3244; 540-231-6731) or by logging on to www.hokietickets.com/.
East Carolina will serve as the home team, but a ticket for the game is included in each Virginia Tech season ticket packet.

Michigan QB Recruit Considering Hokies?

Apparently, Michigan four-star QB recruit Kevin Newsome is wavering on his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines. He’s apparently not thrilled that new coach Rich Rodriguez continues to recruite four-star QBs; RichRod has already received another commitment and a third is on the way.

Hokies Dealt Blow at WR; Dillard Out for the Season
WDBJ, the CBS affiliate in Roanoke, Va., is reporting that Virginia Tech Hokies wide receiver Brandon Dillard will miss the entire 2008 season after tearing his Achilles tendon. The rehab will take anywhere from four to six months. Dillard came out of the spring practice season as the Hokies top receiver in an already thin corps that lost four of the school’s best ever receivers to graduation and the NFL draft.
