Hey Hokie fans! I apologize for the lack of new content during the weekend. I also apologize for the site being squirrely. The site is back up and fully functional. We are getting ready to upgrade to WordPress to the current version, and in the process of preparing the site, we (I) inadvertently turned off a key plugin that threw all of the content “out of whack” – as Frank Beamer would say.
As for the lack of content, I was in Tennessee from Thursday to Monday for a wedding and mini-family reunion. It was the first time the Cope cousins have been in the same place at the same time since 1994. It was also the first time that my brother got to meet my 3-year-old son Nicholas. And, I got to see my nephew Carter for the second time. It was a good, but long and hectic weekend.
Thankfully, the wedding on Saturday didn’t start until 5:30 and since we were on central time, the Hokies @ Tar Heels game kicked off at 2:30, so we got to watch the first half of the game. Unfortunately, it was the wrong half. No worries, I had my iPhone on the ScoreMobile app while I was sitting in the back row of the wedding. As soon as the ceremony was over, I made eye contact with my dad and nodded my head as if to say, “Come here, I have an update on the game!” He came over and I just grinned this, you’re-not-going-to-believe-this grin … “They Hokies won, 20-17.” Dad just rolled his eyes and said, “Good grief!”
A win is a win is a win, but at this point, we’ve got THE ugliest team in the country. That being said, UVA’s ’07 team was probably the ugliest team (in terms of how it won games) in the history of college football.
Sorry, got a little sidetracked. When I got home late Monday evening, I discovered the for some reason, my DVR did not record the game. Before I left on Thursday morning, I set it to record on ABC from 3:30 to 7:30, but the description just said “College football. Teams TBA.” So, I’m guessing that when the listing was updated with the actual game, it booted my timer. So, that’s why we haven’t posted highlights yet.
Never fear! I went to HokieTapes.com and Ryan is hooking me up with a DVD of the game. You’re the man, Ryan! Once I have the DVD, I’ll skip right to the second half and put together the highlights. Also, after I watch the entire game, I’ll put together my recap and analysis (more emphasis than recap since by now, you all know what happened).
From what I’ve read, the Hokies won on a combination of a revitalized and impressive second-half offensive performance, combined with a complete collapse of the Tar Heels on both sides of the ball, and of course, Bud Foster’s swarming defense. I can’t wait to see the second half!

Welcome back! Hope you had a great weekend – looking forward to your reactions and breakdown of the game
Ha! Welcome back. I, too, had family commitments this weekend and was only able to watch the first half, but you know what? Here’s how much I’ve come to rely on the great work you do here: I said to myself, “Self, no matter what happens with the game, you can always catch the highlights at vthokiefans.com”
Glad you had a great weekend and can’t wait to see the reel.
