Penn State Fans Interested in Playing Virginia Tech Hokies

Kevin McGuire, the Penn State beat writer for Examiner.com, took poll among Penn State fans asking them which teams they’d like to see their Nittany Lions play on the gridiron. The Virginia Tech Hokies received the third most votes behind Miami and West Virginia.

The Hokies and Lions have never met on the football field, which is hard to believe considering there are more than 200 years of football between the two schools. The series could be one of a mutual respect and admiration, much like what occurred between Virginia Tech and Nebraska. Both sides cannot stop raving about the sportsmanship and hospitality each showed the other during last season in Lincoln and this season in Blacskburg.

Following the April 16, 2007 tragedy at Virginia Tech, Nittany Lions fans showed their support for the Hokies at their 2007 spring football game. The Virginia Tech faithful won’t soon forget that show of support and I firmly believe that a home-at-home series between the two schools would be well-received by the fans, players, coaches and even the television networks, who you can bet will play up the aforementioned tie between the two programs.

What about you Hokie fans? Which schools would you like to see the Hokies play in the future?
