Falcons Cut Jimmy Williams
The Atlanta Falcons continue to purge their roster of Virginia Tech Hokies. The only remaining Hokie still on the roster is Michael Vick and that’s only for business reasons. When it becomes economically feasible to cut him loose, Arthur Blank will do so.

Josh Morgan Earning Praise in 49ers Practices
The official Web site of the San Francisco 49ers featured an article about rookie wide receiver and former Virginia Tech standout Josh Morgan, who is having a pretty solid off-season with the five-time World Champs.
Though his play on the practice field has earned him praise from veterans and coaches, Morgan said that he still has a long way to go.
‘I’m nowhere near where I want to be,” Morgan told 49ers.com. “I’ve still got a lot more learning to do. I’ve got to get a lot more comfortable in the playbook. I’m more comfortable going full speed out here and correcting what I did wrong in the meeting room, but I’m nowhere near making the plays that I know I can make.”

Hokies Awaiting Word from Granby Linebacker
Kyle Tucker at the Virginian-Pilot wrote in a June 12 article that the Hokies have offered Granby star linebacker Telvion Clark one of its 12 scholarships for the 2009 recruiting class. Normally, writes Tucker, the Hokies have about 20-25 scholarships to offer each year, but the ‘09 class is handcuffed because of the huge ‘08 recruiting class (31) and the lack of attrition from the ‘07 squad.
Clark is a speedy 6-1, 210 inside linebacker that ran a 4.47 at Virginia Tech’s recent summer camp. The Hokies apparently feel like he is worth of one seven remaining scholarships for the 2009 class and are seeking a commitment from the Granby standout sooner rather than later. For the Hokies, it appears to be a numbers game and they want to know where they stand with their current offers.
Clark’s former head coach Dave Hudak, who retired after last season, believes that the Hokies don’t have anything to worry about by waiting. Clark told Penn State and West Virginia that he would make official visits and Hudak believes the rising senior is merely keeping his word, but Virginia Tech is where his heart is. Time will tell.
