Text of GC report:

Virginia Tech Athletic Director Jim Weaver just sent out a press release stating he will hold a news conference at 4 p.m. Monday. No reason was giving for the conference. However, Weaver has been battling Parkinson’s disease for a long time now. Hopefully today’s announcement is not health-related, but that’s my best guess. Stay tuned.

There were rumors that the announcement would be that Bud Foster was going to be named head coach at Arkansas (that school has a similarly timed press conference today), but this would indicate otherwise:

So it may be that Weaver is in fact stepping down. As much criticism as the man has taken over the years, he really has done quite well in cultivating the department and helping make Tech a force in the ACC. He will be missed if he leaves.
