The Virginia Tech Athletics Department released the 2009 schedule for the football team. The Hokies will play a 12-game schedule that include six home games. Nine of Tech’s 12 scheduled opponents played in a bowl game last season.

The Hokies, as we have known for a couple of months, will open the season against Alabama in Atlanta on Sept. 5 as part of the Chick-fil-A College Kickoff. Beamer and the boys will return to Blacksburg for a three-game home stand against Marshall (9/12), Nebraska (9/19) and then open the ACC schedule against Miami (9/26).
Tech will play two of it’s next three on the road beginning a road trip to Duke (10/3), back home to host the Eagles (10/10) and then back down to Georgia to take on the Yellow Jackets (10/17). Tech will get a Saturday off (10/24) before back-to-back Thursday night ESPN games starting with North Carolina (10/29) in Blacksburg and then at East Carolina (11/5).
Following the Thursday night games, the Hokies get a more than a week to prepare for a road trip to Maryland (11/14), then back home to host N.C. State (11/21), before closing the regular season on the road against Virginia (11/28).
