Happy birthday to @MikeVick, seen flying over Temple defenders at Virginia Tech.

Happy 32nd birthday, Michael! Virginia Tech football would not be were it is today had you not decided to come to Blacksburg.

Yahoo Sports has a headline on its homepage that reads “Vick breaks hand in loss, rips officials.”

I clicked on the link to see how he “ripped” the officials and here are his quote:

“I felt I got hit late. No flag,” the left-handed quarterback said. “At some point something catastrophic is gonna happen. Not to blame the refs, but more precautions should be taken. I’m on the ground all the time in the pocket.”

And here’s his other quote:

“Every time I throw the ball, I’m on the ground,” Vick said. “I get hit in the head. I don’t know why I don’t get the 15-yard flag like everybody else does. I’m not trying to blame the refs. I just want them to take notice.”

So, exactly how is that “ripping” the officials? Sounds to me like he was very respectful and was simply asking that officials pay more attention to some of the late hits.

What do you think?

The Run - Michael Vick’s famous play vs. WVU in 1999.

Haters gonna hate, that’s a given. But for those who believe in redemption and second chances … Michael Vick is back as one of the top quarterbacks in the National Football League.

In case you missed it last night, former Virginia Tech football great Michael Vick had a career night on Monday Night Football.

The Vick-led Eagles led 35-0 after the first play of the second quarter. Vick completed his first 10 passes and finished 20 for 28 for 333 yards with four touchdowns. The first play of the game was an 88-yard deep pass for a touchdown, the longest first play from scrimmage in Eagles’ history. Vick also ran eight times for 80 yards and two scores, moving past Steve Young and into second place in NFL history for yards rushing by a quarterback.

Vick became the first player in NFL history with at least 300 yards passing, 50 yards rushing, four passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in a game. He hasn’t thrown an interception or lost a fumble this season.
